Be The Change 2025

We must be the change we want to see in the world for many reasons that are obvious and critical to the survival of our and other species on the planet. Here are just a few reasons on why the “ Be The Change” movement is so important. I will list one compelling reason on a Bi-Weekly basis. Here are a few reasons why I am dong it:

As an artist and a local, small business operator it's hard to ignore the environmental challenges of our times( which can also bring about social, economic, and political challenges)and possible plans of action and solutions that we can create and implement as individuals and as a collective, starting from the bottom up in our own local communities, with us. I want to engage and collaborate with you to be the individual and collective agents of change we are wanting locally and globally. But in all honesty it's easier to wrap our arms around what we can easily understand and manage locally, right at home. My intention is to encourage us to participate in various environmental projects, educational discussions, and discussions around how to be engaged and impactful as individuals and as a community.

Playwright, Actor, and Solo Performer

I use my solo performances as a story-telling, journalistic vehicle to engage my audience in order to humanize and raise awareness around the challenges we all face (rich, poor, black, white, etc.), around greed, marginalization, and class, as well as to create deeper empathy with and understanding for the pain and suffering of many members of our society (which can include ourselves) who have slipped and fallen through the cracks and often end up in jail, or various kinds of prisons of our own making.

Through deep study, observation, interview, listening, empathy, and transparency, and based on my own life experiences as an immigrant, I seek out relevant situations and stories that are currently impacting us and our society, focusing on inequity, greed, mindless consumerism, poverty, and racism. Writing a solo performance piece usually takes two years to complete, and it is an organic process that cannot be rushed if audience members are to have an authentic and lasting experience that will mobilize them to also be catalysts for change on the planet through their own unique ways, voices, and action.

Grandma’s Million Dollar Scheme is based on a mostly true story, with a few fictional moments, and tells a story about race, class, greed, and our criminal justice system which has so many loopholes for white-collar criminals who actually never end up doing time. I draw on my interactions with my students at the local jail, and my experiences as a spiritual teacher there, and on my own journey as a get-rich-quick-scheme real estate agent in my late twenties in San Francisco who falls victim to a grandma who has a million-dollar get-rich-quick scheme of her own. My intention in this performance is to humanize and raise awareness around the challenges we all face (being rich, poor, black, white, etc.), around greed, marginalization, and class, as well as to create  deeper empathy and understanding for the pain and suffering of many members of our society (which can also include ourselves) who have slipped and fallen through the cracks and often end up in jail, or various kinds of prisons of our own making.

Zombie Nation

This show is about a cross-section of Americans living and coping with life in a San Francisco apartment building, where their core values are challenged by Joe the Plumber, a hardworking, practical, blue-color guy who questions the choices the various tenants and their greedy landlords in San Francisco are making, and how people are literally turning into zombies, mindless consumers of tech and other products. But not all is lost, as most of the characters regain their conscience, moral compass, and sanity to become a healthy community.
